Alle or 12.00 le ispezioni degli organi competenti hanno riportato solo qualche caso di crollo in abitazioni vecchie. Danni importanti ci sono al Santuario della Madonna della Libera e alla chiesa della SS Trinità. Eì vietato entrare o sostare vicino qeste strutture già usurate dal tempo. Quindi le due chiese dovranno essere messe in sicurezza con lavori lunghi prima di essere riaperte. La gente...la gente ha risposto bene e con calma , dopo una notte all'aperto lunga e fredda, ha ripreso a lavorare. La situazione presenta gravità a L'Aquila dove si contano i morti. I giovani di Pratola che studiano a L'Aquila sembra stiano tutti bene. Mia figlia per fortuna ieri non è rientrata a L'Aquila, una coinquilina ha comunicato che nella loro casa non c'è più il pavimento. Il terremoto è stato forte : 5,8 ricter , 8,5. Tra breve arriveranno a responsi delle rilevazioni sugli altri Comuni che hanno subito molti danni.  In alcuni paesini si parla di "rasi al suolo". I soccorsi dei volontari e degli addetti sono stati rapidi. Mi è stato riferito che un giovane di Pratola, incurante della paura, a L'Aquila è entrato in una abitazione per portare soccorso a due anziane. Il ragazzo è riuscito metterle in salvo. Mauro 

Inspection of the buildings by local authorities began at 12 noon, and have reported some collapse in older buildings. There is some important damage to the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Libera and the church of the S.S. Trinita'. It is now prohibited to enter or stop near these structures which have already been worn with age. Thus the two churches will need to be secured with much work and long lasting repairs. The people have replied well and kept calm, after spending a long night in the cold outdoor, have returned to their normal work. The situation however is more grave in the city of Aquila with reports of deaths. The young pratolani students studying in Aquila, seem to have fared well. My daughter - Thank God-  gratefully did not return to her student apartment there, fellow tenants have communicated that in their apartment the floor has collapsed. The earthquake was strong measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale, (8.5 on the Mercalli) We should receive more information shortly regarding nearby communities that have received more extensive damage. In some small towns there is talk that they have been flattened to the ground. The emergency response by the authorities and volunteers have been swift.. Someone told me that a young man from Pratola , without fearing his life entered  a house in Aquila to aid two elderly ladies, bringing them out to safety.
